About Monica

Meet Coach Monica

Coach Monica brings four years of dedicated coaching experience to young athletes, specializing in volleyball and strength and conditioning. Her volleyball journey began in high school, where she built a very successful career that paved the way for her collegiate opportunities. She continued her athletic pursuits at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), playing volleyball for two years before a knee injury ended her playing career. This setback became the catalyst for her passion in coaching, transforming personal adversity into purpose.

What sets Coach Monica apart is her approach to athletic development. She understands that peak performance extends beyond physical conditioning—it requires mental fortitude, emotional resilience, and unwavering confidence. Having navigated the emotional challenges of a career-ending injury herself, she brings authentic empathy and insight to the psychological demands young athletes face.

Coach Monica's coaching philosophy centers on building complete athletes. She combines technicality and evidence-based strength training with mental performance strategies, helping her athletes develop the mindset needed to excel under pressure. Whether working on mechanics or overcoming competition anxiety, she creates a supportive environment where young athletes can grow, learn from setbacks, and discover their potential both on and off the court. Her greatest fulfillment comes from watching athletes transform not just as players, but as confident, resilient individuals.
